Mother Mary Aurora (real name: Josefina Marasigan), the Filipina Pink Sister visited by #Aldub couple Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards during their vacation in Germany, has died at the age of 93. Mother Mary Aurora served as the Mother General of the Pink Sisters for 34 years, leading the religious institute four times until reaching the age of 80. She was also a spiritual adviser to the late president Corazon Aquino during the People Power Revolution of 1986.
The congregation was founded in 1896 and officially named Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration (SSpSap). The nuns live a contemplative life, focused on perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, offering intercessory prayers for the world. Inside the cloister the nuns wear rose-colored habits in honor of the Holy Spirit. As a consequence of these habits those nuns are nicknamed the “Pink Sisters.”
My congregation, the Society of the Divine Word and the Pink Sisters have the same founder: Saint Arnold Janssen. The Blue Sisters (Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit) complete the Arnoldus Family Trio.
The Pink Sisters in the Philippines have their convents in Tagaytay City, Quezon City, Baguio City, Cebu City, Aklan and Davao City.
