To heighten everyone’s anticipation and intensify the organizing committee’s preparations, a 100-day official countdown towards the IEC 2016 would be formally launched. Hence, on October 16, 2015 which marks the 100 DAYS before the International Eucharistic Congress celebration in Cebu on January 24-31, 2016, a solemn EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION would be celebrated at 5:00 PM at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. Together with other Bishops and priests in the Archdiocese, it would be presided over by no less than the Archbishop-Emeritus of Cebu, His Eminence Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal, who has also been known as one of the few living testimonies of the ever historical 1937 IEC in Manila.

Prior to the said celebration however, a PRESS CONFERENCE would be held at 3:00 PM at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral rectory to provide the faithful and the general public the latest updates on the preparations. The following resource persons are expected to be present on the said occasion: Bishop Dennis Villarojo, the secretary-general of the IEC 2016 Local Committee, who would present general updates on the preparations; Bishop Oscar Florencio and Fr. Marnell Mejia who is expected to provide some details on the CBCP meeting come January 2016 in Cebu, Fr. Brian Brigoli with an architect from Duros Construction which is the official contractor of the IEC 2016 PAVILION for the venue, and Msgr. Ruben Labajo for the updates on the specifics of the Accommodation Committee.
