The Word Broadcasting Corporation (WBC), the media communication company owned by the SVD Philippines-South, is moving back to the University of San Carlos-Cebu after 5 years of staying at the Gallardo Building in Mango Avenue. This means that the 2 Cebu-based radio stations under its umbrella, the DYRF Radio Fuerza 1215 and Power FM 89.1, are now in a newly furnished location inside the P. del Rosario street of the University building.

It is indeed a homecoming! I am very happy about it because Fr. Bobby and I will have more time to spend with our community. You see, everyday Fr. Bob and I go to the stations at the Mango Avenue. During lunch and dinner, we have to go back to the university – and sometimes meals are already over when we arrived. Mao nga dihado jud kaayo mi sa kaon, hehe. We shall also have time to attend noon prayers.

More importantly, it will also be a renewal of ties between the University and our radio stations. Interestingly, in 1987 WBC Board of Trustees meeting, it was mentioned that the SVD missionaries intended to buy the DYRF from the Redemptorist Fathers because, aside from evangelization, it will also cater to the students of San Carlos should it open Mass Communications in the future. This vision is materialized only after 27 years as the University offered Communication courses just last semester.
