SVD JOKES #2: DOG STORY WITH FR. BERNARD TOEPFER October 3, 2008

There are many dog stories with SVDs! Fr. Bernard Toepfer, SVD (+1977) served as Rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary in Leyte during Pre-Vatican II. To the seminary dog, he spoke in German. He would say “Raus!” and the dog would go to the doghouse. The seminarians heard “house”; so they would say to the dog “house!” The dog seemingly understood both German and English and would go obediently to his doghouse. I welcome contributions! Anecdotes must be funny, true stories of SVD missionaries working in the Philippines or Pinoy SVD missionaries working in any part of the globe. Contributions may be forwarded to fielsvd@yahoo.com

I remember Fr. Toepfer. He was our Biology teacher in 2nd year high school (CKMS HS batch ’75). I always go to his office to borrow his Ellery Queen novels, some of them I never returned. I miss the guy. Bless his soul.
