I know very well it will be coming out in the national papers! I was having my regular Sunday chores in Saint Arnold Janssen Shrine Parish in Cainta when I received a text from Msgr. Gerry Santos. I have been one of his regular recipients of important updates about current events and social issues. When I read the content of the text, I was really moved to pray. “Dios ko!”This is the text coming from Msgr. Gerry Santos:
May nag-alay sa akin kanina ng prutas.
Inuwi ko dito house.
Nang binuksan namin,
sa gitna ay may nakabalot na
aborted fetus, 4 months.
My parents are very upset.
The fetus already had hands and feet. The good monsignor blessed the fetus and instructed Church workers to bring it to La Loma Cemetery, where a space is alloted for aborted babies.
The incident was published in the Philippine Star and Inquirer last Tuesday, July 8. In the article, Monsignor Gerry reminded everyone about the importance of human life. “The mother’s womb is the sanctuary of life and the mother should defend the life of her child.” He also urged women dealing with unwanted pregnancy not to go to abortion clinics: “Give me the child. There are several convents and parishes who are willing to adopt their babies.”
Kalooy pod sa bata oy! I remembered Mother Theresa, one of our generation’s defender of the sanctity of life. In one of her talks, she said: “abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships.”
Prayer for the Helpless Unborn
in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil,
those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.
Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today
who are not thinking of motherhood.
Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image
– as well as theirs – made for eternal life.
Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts
to love their babies and give them birth
and all the needed care that a mother alone can give.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Our Lord, who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever,
