I thank God for the amazing gift of technology and its power to connect people from all power the world. I thank God for the gift of wonderful persons who, in one way or the other, revealed the beauty of their lives and enriched me with their sacred experiences.

When I received my award from the 3rd International Pinoy Expats Blog Awards (PEBA) last December 16, I was also saying a little prayer for the overseas Filipino workers from my parish in the little island of Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay. My relationship with them, being their online pastor, deepened my love for the OFWs and even strengthened my religious missionary commitment — a vocation that goes beyond borders. I wholeheartedly dedicate this award for them.

I am very thankful to all of you. You made my day very memorable. Pag nagbibirthday ako, sinusulat ko sa aking Red Diary ang lahat ng mga messages na natatanggap ko sa text, friendster, facebook, blog, ym, multiply, at iba pang accounts na meron ako.

But the greetings this year were just so overwhelming! Binilang ko, I received more than 500 messages from facebook alone. I decided not to write them anymore. But rest assured, I treasure them all in my heart.

ITO'Y IYONG IYO NA!
Grace and Peace sa inyong lahat!
Last January, nagkausap kami ni Dormboy. Nagkwento siya sa akin na ang saya siguro kung ang mga bloggers ay magkakasama para gumawa ng isang proyekto. Ang tinutukoy niya ay isang libro. Isang libro na pagtutulungan ng mga bloggers (preferably 40 bloggers siguro). Yes, a book na ala-Youngblood na galing mismo sa mga bloggers. Kasi naman sa kaba-bloghop ni Dormboy, eh, ang mga nabisita niya ay “ang gaganda ng mga paksa at kwentong talaga namang me sense…“
Napangiti ako. Kasi hapang nag-bukas ako ng email message niya, yon din ang nasa isip ko.
Kailan ko ba unang naisip yon? Ah, noong binisita ko si Dencios sa Dubai. Noong nabasa ko ang kanyang Dear God, aba, nasabi ko sa sarili ko, ang ganda nito ah! Pwedeng-pwede kong imemorize at gamitin sa homily! Sayang kung mananatili lang ito sa blog niya. Dapat mailagay ito sa isang book.
Narealize ko rin na sa pamamagitan ng blogging, ang daming mga simple experiences natin na nabibigyan ng lalim. Minsan sa galaxy ni Ax, nagno-nosebleed ako noon, pero when he talked about his bicycle experience, napa-wow ako! Simple pero may dating! Magandang ilagay sa inspirational section ng devotional book.
Sa aking pangangapitbahay, maraming beses na rin akong naantig at naaliw sa iba’t ibang kwento ng mga bloggers. Ah, si Mais! Sinubaybayan ko yon. Inalay niya ang kanyang buhay para sa lahat…Teka, malapit na pala ang kwaresma. Tamang-tama!
We both hope na kung ma-materialize, we will donate it for charity.
Ito ang punchline: Hindi namin kaya ni Dormboy ang project na kami lang dalawa. Sino ba sa inyo ang gustong makibahagi sa libro project na ito? (Si Miss Pinkie nag-express na!)

swimming ang aking sport
Natuwa ako na nagbasa ng mga random things about bloggers. Ang ganda ng mga ganong posts kasi mas lalo kong nakikilala sila. Kaya ito, nakipost na rin ako:
1. Eldest ako sa aming limang magkakapatid. 4 na boys, 1 girl. Ang pinakabunso namin ay elementary pa.
2. Di ako regular na natutulog sa aming bahay noong maliit pa ako. Hinihiram ako ng mga kapitbahay noon na doon matulog sa kanila dahil natutuwa sila sa akin. Kaya gabi-gabi, iba-ibang bahay ang tinutulugan ko. Siguro ito dahilan bakit di ako lumaki, masyado akong nabi-baby. hehe.
3. Sa aming munting altar noong maliit pa ako ay may picture ng Our Mother of Perpetual Help. Gabi-gabi nagdadasal kami, then sa likod ng picture ni Mama Mary, may nakatagong tuko! Pet namin yun sa bahay.
4. Mahilig ako maligo sa ilog noong maliit pa. Minsan maghapon pa! Then, pagdating ng hapon, susunduin na ako ni Mama sa ilog, may kasamang stick! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
5. Noong elementary runner ako ng school namin. Nanalo ako sa 100 meter dash. Surprise win sa akin un. Naging representative ako para sa Provincial Athletic Meet sa Davao del Sur. Pero pagdating sa province, di na ako napasama kahit sa top three man lang. It taught me well how to accept defeat gracefully. Di pala sa lahat ng pagkakataon, panalo. Better luck next time.
6. Mahilig ako sumali-sali sa mga contest noong elementary. Kung saan-saan ako pinapadala ng school namin. Nag-second ako sa Regional Competition sa quiz bee sa HEKASI (Heograpiya, Kasaysayan, Sibika).
7. Noong December 1993, nakasali ako sa First Asean Jamboree sa Laguna. Until January 1994 yun, kaya yun ang first time na nag-celebrate ako ng New Year away from home. You see, kahit sa mga events ng aking buhay, hinanda na rin ako ni Lord para mahiwalay sa aking family para better prepared ako sa aking buhay missionary.
8. Nagkaroon din naman ako ng lovelife….and we lived happily ever after, separately.
9. Wala talaga sa plano ko ang magseminaryo o maging paring misyonero. Gusto ko kasi sana noon talaga na maging newscaster. Pero noong dumating ang calling ni Lord, I also left everything. Hindi man ako naging newscaster, naging Good News-caster naman ako.
10. Sumali ako noon sa Centennial Kid sa Davao, isang male search. Loser. Di ako nanalo.
11. Lahat ng editions ng Shake, Rattle and Roll pinanood ko. Da best pa rin ang “Aswang” episode ni Manilyn Reynes.
12. Takot ako magdonate ng dugo. Dati noon, may grand blood donation sa seminaryo, compulsory kaming mga seminarians na mag-donate. Nainterview na ako lahat-lahat…then noong makita ko ang napakalaking karayom, pasimple akong nag-walk-out. lol.
13. Hindi ako umiinom ng mga hard drinks. Bear brand lang talaga ang gusto ko.
14. I like red, favorite color ko yan.
15. Gusto kong makapag-publish ng isang librong gawa ko, and paunti-unti ko nang na-materialize ito.
16. Lab ko ang teatro. High school pa lang, nagdi-direk na ako ng mga stage plays sa aming school. Gumanap ako bilang Basilio sa El Filibusterismo sa isang play sa Davao noong college.
17. Di ako ang pinakamabait na seminarista during my time. Umi-eskapo ako noong college para lang mag-internet sa labas. lol. Pero sa buong buhay ko sa loob ng seminaryo, once lang ako umakyat sa bakod. hahahaha.
18. Sa seminaryo, during intrams, may cheerdance lagi. Napapasali ako lagi. Buti na lang walang youtubers doon sa mga classmates ko, or else malaking scandal ung pagsasayaw ko ng “she bangs.” lol.
19. Naging liturgist ako sa Healing Eucharist sa ABS-CBN channel 2 noong 2006-2007. Dito ako nakilala ni Bluepanjeet, ang pinakaunang blogger na nakilala ko. Inadd niya ako sa friendster, then, nagsimula na akong mag-blog.
20. Noong December 2006, pinili kong umuwi ng Manila sa mismong New Year’s Eve. So, from Davao, ang flight ko ay December 31, 8 pm. Dumating ako sa NAIA at 10 pm. OMG! Walang mga taxis! Kaya, naglakad ako from NAIA to Baclaran. Sa Baclaran, inabot ako ng New Year. Putukan dito, putukan doon. Hila-hila ko pa ang aking luggage. At kitang-kita ko sa pagkikislapan ng mga fireworks ay nagtatakbuhan din sa takot ang mga ipis. lol.

Happy New Year my dear friends and online parishioners!!!
As we welcome the New Year 2010, let us always count the blessings we received for the past year 2009. Magpasalamat sa Diyos sapagkat He indeed is never outdone in generosity.
The year 2010 ay hindi natin masasabing worry-free year. There will always be trials, pains and desolations but let us learn to offer our future to the One who knows what is best for us. After all, He promises to give us a future full of hope. Let us cling on to that.
At dahil New Year, I know picture taking will always be part of our big time or small time celebrations. However, through the years, natanong ko sa sarili:

Ito ang distinct pose ng mga Thais pag nagpapa-picture sila.
Ang ganitong pose na minodelo ni Nash ay ang Japanese “V” sign.
Ito naman ang pose na common sa mga Koreans and Chinese pag nagpapapicture. Madalas gayahin ito ng mga Pinoy ngayon. Blame it on the Chinovelas and Koreanovelas.
Walang kokontra! Indians do the “Namaste” gesture during picture taking.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Nakaugalian ko na na magpost ng Christmas message tuwing Pasko. Habang naghahanap ako ng magandang salawikain patungkol sa Pasko, nakita ko ang isang sinabi ni William Vaughan a.k.a Burton Hillis,
“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other. “
Ouch! I read it with pain. Kailan ba ako last nakapagpasko sa amin? I remember my mother in Davao. Sabi kasi niya, ang makakakumpleto daw ng Pasko niya ay ang presence ko at ng kapatid ko na nasa Caloocan.
Ouch again.
This is not only true in my case bilang isang paring misyonero. It is also true to many Filipinos around the world who left our dear homeland in search of greener pastures. Our dear OFWs bravely left their families and loved ones here in the Philippines. Armed with hope, pinipilit nilang maging masaya kahit malayo sa pamilya, ang kanilang tanging yaman. This Christmas I pray(+) in a special way for all Filipino missionaries and siyempre, my blogger friends abroad – Superlolong Pinoy, Topexpress, Boni Station, Flamindevil, Pinkdiaries, Dencios (na nagsara ng blog), Jaggedjagger, Kuya Blu, Mommy Pokz, Darbs, Daddy Nonsense, King, Lee, Glaiza (honorary blogger) at marami pang iba…
Malayo man sa family, masaya ang Pasko ko. Since December 12, araw araw may Christmas party dito. Sa bawat baryo na pinupuntahan ko, yun din ang date ng kanilang Christmas party kaya todo busog ako all the time. Once, nai-post ko nga sa aking facebook shoutout: “Crabs, octopus, squid, cake, apples, shells, tuna, shrimps — punta nga kayo dito para maubos lahat ng mga pagkain dito sa parokya ko.”
True talaga. Inuulan ng blessings ang Pasko namin dito sa parokya. Tatlo kaming pari and we are very thankful to God because despite the poverty of our people, di nila nakakalimutan ang magbigay. Some of our fisherfolks actually stopped fishing na because of extortion from pirates.
